TCA Peel – Trichloroacetic acid

LWH-118Skin is the largest organ of your body. Unlike the heart or lungs, the skin is also the only organ which is constantly exposed to the elements of the outside world. Over the years, exposure to the sun, wind and other factors can take a toll on your skin.

Many facial peel treatment options are designed to accelerate the removal of old dead cells at the surface of the skin, bringing forth the softer, smoother skin below. Peel treatments are very gentle, unlike the more aggressive laser surgery techniques available and have less associated side effects.

There are several types of chemical peel, each using different chemicals and fruit acids. Medium and deep peels use TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) Peel.

The TCA peel works by causing sloughing or removal of the upper layers of skin. Normally these are the layers that are damaged by the elements and neglect. By removing the upper layers of skin, the overall skin texture is dramatically smoothed, superficial wrinkles are quickly eliminated and colour irregularities are improved. The advantage of this peel is that it’s pasty like texture makes the application easy and ensures even uptake into the skin. Patients benefit from regaining a fresher more vibrant appearance.

It has been used for many years to treat facial wrinkles, age spots, pigment abnormalities, mask of pregnancy and other superficial skin problems such as sun damaged skin. (Including pre-cancerous lesions), acne scarring, freckles, appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and the appearance of superficial scars.

The TCA peel is one of the most innovative ways to easily and optimally rejuvenate the skin using a special based formulation. When TCA is applied to the skin, it causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days. When the old skin has peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin which has a smoother texture and more even colour.

Medium peels can remove skin cells from the epidermis but also the middle layer of the skin. A burning or stinging sensation may be felt during the application, and the skin may change colour slightly in the days following the treatment, but this usually returns to normal after a few weeks. Medium peels usually need to be repeated every 6-12 months.

Deep peels protrude into the lower part of the dermis (skin) and may require a local anaesthetic and sedative. The peel is usually left on for around 30 minutes, but this varies dependant on the individual. You may experience some peeling, redness and discomfort for a few days, but most of the swelling should have subsided after 14 days. It is advised that no make up is worn for 48 hours. A deep peel has lasting effects and therefore only needs one application, unlike medium or superficial peels.

Our aim is always to achieve the very best results for you and exceed your expectations, each and every time.

Using a very fine needle, the product is injected into the facial muscles and works by blocking the nerves that contract the muscles, thereby softening the appearance of the line or wrinkle. The skin above the muscles becomes nice and smooth after a period of between three to 14 days. It takes this time for the product to settle, attached itself to the nerve endings and get to work. A very fine needle is used and the treatment is considered painless by the majority of patients.

Visibly clearer, brighter, rejuvenated looking skin

The Image Skincare Beta Lift and Perfection Lift Peels are gentle yet effective medical grade peels which can only be administered by a Registered General Nurse. What this means is that not only are the results more effective but you can rest assured you are in the safest possible hands. The best advice is not to let the word “peel” put you off, a peel can be an entirely gentle yet effective way to improve your skin. Our skin cells turn over and build up every 28-40 days depending on age, so it makes sense to have a resurfacing treatment every month to six weeks for optimum skin health.

A facial peel involves a professional exfoliation of the top layers of the skin using medical grade ingredients like salicylic acid and lactic acid, to remove the build up of dead skin cells and neutralise bacteria (if needed). Depending on your skin’s needs and the results you wish to achieve high doses plant stem cells, peptides, anti-oxidants and vitamins are then applied to the skin. Not only will skin appear visibly clearer and smoother but skin will be brighter, calmer and rejuvenated. The products you use at home are better able to penetrate the skin and below the surface collagen is kick started to continue the benefits at home

Fill lines, restore volume and enjoy a fresher, more youthful appearance.

As we age, the collagen that gives our skin durability and flexibility declines which results in the appearance of lines and wrinkles and the loss of fullness and volume. Dermal fillers are an extremely popular and successful method of treating these concerns and deliver a fresher, more youthful appearance.

  • Reduces laughter lines & smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Fuller more youthful face
  • Tightens loose skin, addresses loss of volume around the jaw
  • Fuller lips & cheeks
  • Delivers a fresher, more youthful appearance

Dermal fillers involve an injection of a gel-like product (depending on the type of filler) to physically fill and plump out the line or area of concern. The product acts as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. Ultimately the body absorbs the product and leaves behind the natural collagen for long-lasting results. There are a wide range of fillers to choose from which your Nurse will discuss in great detail and make the best recommendation for you.
